Ride-In 2002

We're number 1 again! We raised $23,356 The ride-in raised $97,006. Great News!

Wow what a great weekend !!!   Congratulations and thanks to all who helped to  raise this huge donation putting the Sno-Buds in first place again this year.  We were there in force to receive top in county, top in state, and top county in state.  The governor was there and she stayed for the whole awards ceremony.

It is through this great effort that we are able to help bring a super summer experience to some deserving disabled kids and their families.  The invitation is made for us all to join at camp SNOMO for 1) the May 4th work day and for the camp day July27th.

Also thanks to all who brought ( and made ) donations for the Silent auction and Penney sale.  Both raised more money than ever before.

The SnoBuds were there in strength - 42 in all.

There was some great riding done as well.  Several different groups covered the area from Lincoln on the north to Elbow pond to the south. There were rides on Friday in the rain and hurricane force winds through the Notch. New trail explored and poker runs between Woodstock and Lost River.  The snow was recent but more than adequate to support the hundreds of sleds taking advantage of it.  The crusty Saturday snow did challenge the cooling of some of the liquids as did the parade. Sunday morning 6am and we were off to Twin Mountain over freshly groomed trails well beyond Gale River.  Who could mind the -15 degree morning when the alpine glow of dawn appeared over the mountain tops.

Thanks to John and Claire for sharing their room for a fun evening of story swapping Friday night.

The Merrimack Sno-Buds would like to extend a special thank you for all of the work that the WMSC did to put on a very successful ride in.  The trails were excellent, we enjoyed every inch of them.  The addition of the Elbow pond loop is a giant plus.  We look forward to coming back again next year

We book rooms for next year on May 1st.  Mark your calendars now  February 7, 8 & 9.  The location is Lincoln again next year.  And remember  we collect donations all year long, Bring you cans to the meeting Wednesday the 13th.  New fund raising ideas are always welcome.

What the whole weekend is about is raising money for Easter Seals.  This money will be used to send about 100 kids to summer camp where they mingle with the Boy Scouts.  They do many things like hike, kayak, canoe, etc that they would not otherwise have the opportunity to do.  Their parents also get a brief respite from the constant care giving that is required.

Many of us traveled up Friday morning in the freezing rain.  I had the heater / defroster going full tilt and had to open the windows to keep the temperature reasonable and still the windshield iced up.  Friday afternoon some of us ventured out in the hail and / or rain to go for a short 25 mile jaunt.  Friday evening we all had spaghetti dinner. Saturday we converged for breakfast at 7:00 when they opened and the restaurant was mostly Sno-Buds.  Saturday we broke into several groups, some staying close to the ride-in and doing the poker run, others going out on longer trips. Sunday morning brought some more smaller groups out to ride.  Josh and I totaled about 175 miles for the weekend. Many went in both the Saturday night and Sunday morning parades.
