Merrimack Sno-Buds Snowmobile Club Meeting Minutes 3/08/06

Meeting called to order at 7:31PM by Club President Rick DiOrio

NOTICE: The next regular Club meeting is on March 22nd at Wasserman Park at 7:30PM. Last one of the season!

ATTENDANCE: 18 members present.

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: Minutes from February 22, '06 presented. Motion made to accept minutes. Motion seconded and carried.

NEW BILLS: None presented.

COMMUNICATIONS: Retrax retractable wheels for sled skis (good for parade-pace); solicitation for bone marrow patient; NHSA sent forms for the annual awards, Snowmobiler of the Year, Snowmobiling Family of the Year, Jr Snowmobiler of the Year, Dealer of the Year. UPDATE: Request for nominees sent out; no responses received. Received letter from Merrimack Welfare administrator thanking the club for our recent donation for heating and electric bill assistance. Request was made by the administrator to increase the maximum payment from the fund from $250 to $400 and why. Members in attendance agreed to increase request. Eric M to send note to administrator with our response.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

  • Trailmaster's Report: No report.
  • Membership: 143 paid members
  • Publicity: March Sno-Traveler showing up in mailboxes. George expressed his gratitude for being mentioned TWICE in our story in that issue. Not a problem, my friend. Happy to do it.
  • Activities: March 25th selected for the "Rights of Spring¨ Gathering (no snow, no ride). Chuck Stata offered to host this event at his place in Groton. (Separate email by Chuck sent out to cover the particulars). George Lyon has assumed the lead in setting up our Season Finale Dinner.
  • Safety: Reference made to DW College student who perished in Winni while sledding.
  • Fund Raising: Have collected $1500 so far (all by Newt). Anyone else collecting funds please get them to $heldon or Newt.
  • Web Site: March avg: 220 visits/day (so far).

UNFINISHED/OLD BUSINESS: Nick DiOrio, son of Club Prez Rick DiOrio, stood up and expressed his appreciation for all the support (cards, calls, flowers) he received during his recent illness. It was good to see him up and around! - Rooms reserved in Lancaster for snowmobiling event the first weekend in February 2007.

NEW BUSINESS: "I got to ride¨ was shouted out by one member in attendance. Recommendation made that you should start from Nash Stream. Reference made of bill before the state regarding speed limits on lakes (for boats) and that officials are trying to tack snowmobiles on to this! 45mph day; 25mph night. Let your elected official(s) know that you're opposed to this bill.

COUNTY MEETING: All thumbs up reported for the pies at the last county meeting in Hancock. However, content of meeting was forgotten. Next county meeting will be at the Wilton firehouse on 3/27. No word on what their refreshments will be.

W/E RIDING PLANS: Watch your email.

Motion made to adjourn meeting around 8:10. Motion was seconded and it carried.
