Merrimack Sno-Buds Snowmobile Club Meeting Minutes 2/22/06

Meeting called to order at 7:30PM by Club President Rick DiOrio

NOTICE: The next regular Club meeting is on March 8th at Wasserman Park at 7:30PM.

ATTENDANCE: 17.5 members present. 12wk old Liam Nicholas Mortenson attended his first Sno-Buds meeting and helped his daddy take notes for the minutes. He also attended the apre-meeting at McDonald's where he dined on formula of a very recent vintage.

PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: Minutes from February 8, '06 presented. Motion made to accept minutes. Motion seconded and carried.

NEW BILLS: $78.34 for web site. Motion made to pay this bill. Motion was seconded and carried.

COMMUNICATIONS: Letter from Easter Seals of NH thanking us for the $750 donation (thru the Thirsty Dawgs Bone auction); county meeting notice (2/28 in Hancock); misc advertisements. NOTE: Email with inappropriate content and delivered using the sbuds@snobuds.com distribution list will not be tolerated. Please think twice before you hit the "send" key.

COMMITTEE REPORTS: Trailmaster's Report: No report locally. Jerico Lake area in Berlin was discussed. An ATV park will be established there with somewhere around 7500 acres and a lot of miles for trails. Will likely be a real shot in the arm for the Berlin area which was hit hard when the mill there closed.

Membership: 140 paid members

Publicity: April Sno-Traveler story being put together. Need ideas. UPDATE: Story submitted 3/2/06 (received a lot of great material that made its way into the story).

Activities: Merrimack Winter Carnival on Feb 18th discussed. Thanks to all the volunteers who worked the table inside and brought memorabilia to show & share. No snow outside, so no snowmobile rides. - That same weekend, the NH Snowmobile Museum show was well attended, but no snow to ride on there either. Their other two events this year will be swap meets at Bear Brook on June 3rd and on September 16th.

Safety: 2 "swimmers" reported to have entered the drink in Pittsburg. Their fate was not noted.

Fund Raising: Rec'd a few dollars in donations at the Winter Carnival. Have also started receiving checks towards the 2007 Ride-In donation.

Web Site: Feb avg: 181 visits/day.

UNFINISHED/OLD BUSINESS: Map of preliminary trail layout in Horse Hill Preserve shown to interested attendees. Still up in the air on who will control park. Parking lot seems to have vehicles in it every day. - On a personal note, Club Prez Rick DiOrio announced that his son was home from the hospital after his surgery and that the support received from club members during this ordeal was greatly appreciated.

NEW BUSINESS: It was suggested that we may want to book rooms for the 2007 Ride-In at the Cabot Inn in Lancaster. $heldon agreed to do thi$.

COUNTY MEETING: Car-pool arrangements were discussed for the next county meeting, in Hancock on 2/27. The pie wagon was leaving Merrimack at 6:15. Hopefully some good notes were taken in between bites of pie that the host club serves up for refreshments.

W/E RIDING PLANS: You're kidding, right?!?!

Motion made to adjourn meeting around 8:22. Motion was seconded and it carried.

---NEXT CLUB MEETING--- March 8th at Wasserman Park at 7:30pm.

Respectfully submitted by: Eric Mortenson, Secretary
