Merrimack Sno-Buds Snowmobile Club Meeting Minutes 1/11/06 Meeting called to order at 7:30PM by Club President Rick DiOrio NOTICE: The next regular Club meeting is on January 25th at Wasserman Park at 7:30PM. ATTENDANCE: 19 members present. PREVIOUS MEETING MINUTES: Minutes from December 14, '05 presented. Motion by Newt Coryell to accept minutes. Motion seconded by Dave Connelly and carried. NEW BILLS: One pre$ented: Creative Signs, for rescue sled and website signs, $130. Motion to pay made by Dave Connelly. Motion was seconded and carried. COMMUNICATIONS: Misc ads and promos flyers; NHSA scholarship application (must be into NHSA by March 1st); Northwood Crank Pullers Radar Run & Dinner Dance on Jan 28th (www.northwoodcrankpullers.com); $100 check from NH F&G to cover costs at OHRV safety course back in December. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Trailmaster's Report: No report. Membership: 80 paid members (approx). Publicity: Stories submitted to local papers regarding OHRV safety class and flag presentation. February Sno-Traveler story submitted. Still two more issues to go so keep those cards and letters coming! Activities: Concern raised about limited notice regarding rides. Response: If there's snow on the ground, someone is likely to be riding so get to Macy's in Bedford (NH) Saturday or Sunday (or both!) before the 7AM departure time to hook up with those heading out. Option B: plan a ride yourself and announce it to everyone via email sbuds@snobuds.com . Not comfortable planning a ride? Send out an email asking who's ride where and when. : Everyone returned healthy from Saturday's No Destination, No Guarantee Ride. - Chief Instructor, George Lyon presented the hard-to-come-by OHRV Safety Instructor shirts to the last recipients. THANKS, George! Fund Raising: Still sitting at about $7000 for Camp Sno-Mo. Would like to reach $10,000, but need your help to do it! The Ride-In is approaching fast! - Donation solicitation ready. Please contact $heldon or Newt if you need one or two, or twenty. - Need a hand "shaking the money tree?" Contact these same guys for assistance. They're quite good! Web Site: Dec avg: 220 visits/day. Our space on the website has been upped to 250MB. A significant jump from before. - Discussion came up regarding idle banter going on via email and possibly creating a forum outside of email for this. Those in attendance reminded of the chat room set up by Bill Clendennin and that it saw little use. Not sure if it's still working. UNFINISHED/OLD BUSINESS: Fuel assistance donation check to be cut at next meeting. Remember that President Rick DiOrio will match member donations, up to $500. The club has already sent a check for $1000 and will be sending another $1000 of club money combined with individual member donations and Rick's match. Want to donate? Bring a check to the next meeting or mail one to our PO Box. - Pres Rick DiOrio reminded those in attendance that a BOD meeting to review by-laws and discuss updates will take place prior to the next regular Club meeting (1/25/06). Start time for this meeting will be 6:30PM. - $heldon presented numbers on what it cost to put on the grass drags: $34,400 labor; $11,000 advertising; $22,000 site work; $55,000 general event expenses (includes $10,500 for police & fire). Total was actually close to $150,000! And that doesn't include the "freebies" secured by various people who helped make this event happen. - Ride-In rooms for Lancaster. Denny Townson to contact motor inn for final cost per night and send out a separate email asking for your money (which will need to be in his hands by the next meeting (1/25), which is the last one before the Ride-In. NEW BUSINESS: Nominating committee formed to develop list of officer nominees for 06/07 season. George Lyon and Newt Coryell stepped up for this task. - Rick DiOrio offered to truck in snow for the Merrimack Winter Carnival (2/18) should it be needed. Eric M to contact Parks & Rec about the offer. COUNTY MEETING: Next county meeting will be in Merrimack on January 30th. W/E RIDING PLANS: See ACTIVITIES (above) and watch your email for ride announcements! - Chuck Stata announced that an area will be kept plowed for parking (by the big red barn) at his place in Groton, NH for anyone who wants to park and ride in that area. His place is located at 778 North Groton Road, Groton, NH. Check out MAPQUEST for directions. Motion made to adjourn meeting around 8:25.
